Theme-based Residency

In this residency, students will be exploring the human brain and some of its parts and functions while learning and practicing syllable counting. Students will learn to love, appreciate, and care for their brains through music elements and the book My Fantastic Elastic Brain by JoAnn Deake, all while practicing how to count syllables with their bodies! By the end, students will be able to perform a song about their brain and a fun way to continue to practice syllable counting!

About Theme-based Residencies

Theme-based residencies are a series of five student-centered workshops focused on creating engaging, interactive arts-focused or arts-integrated experiences for children in PreK and Kindergarten. Each residency starts with either a “kickoff” assembly or an interactive workshop and culminates in an event where children share what they learned. Pricing starts at $2,300 + mileage. We may be able to assist you in securing grant and funding opportunities.

Program Length 5 Sessions

Technical Requirements

10’ x 10’ clear area
Access to performance area 1 hour before set up
The artist will provide a sound system for audiences of over 50 people or for large rooms/gyms
The artist will need a power outlet to plug in the sound system
The room needs to have blinds or the ability to block the light at least partially
The artist will be in communication about additional technical requirements specific to the program
