About This Program
Mr. Phelps’ Word Game Boxes
Artist
Alden Phelps
Program Type
Assembly / Performance
Description
It all starts with a box of magnetic words and phrases. With accompanying pre-recorded video and a 16-page activity booklet, students (grades 2-7, or younger with more hands-on help) can sing and write rhymes and songs along with Mr. Phelps. The inner box lid is a dry-erase magnet, so students can work with their magnets and easily add new ideas. There’s a dry erase marker and the 16-page book leads students through games and activities which start simply: write a couplet from Alden’s song Ted the Rhino. Ten video lessons help students practice playing with syllables, rhymes, parts of speech, and parts of a song.
This program is available live virtually, in-person, and on demand. Live support workshops with Mr. Phelps are also available.
Schools or school districts purchase the Word Game boxes and subscribe to the videos separately through the Arts for Learning Video Portal. The video subscription is good for one year.
