Jazzing Up Learning – Hit the Road, Jack, and Learn to Scat!
Program Type
Residency
Description
In Jazzing Up Learning: Hit the Road, Jack, and Learn to Scat!, students explore Jazz music by learning a vocal improvisation language called “scat singing.” Students discover and practice this skill through vocal activities, music, and games; and learn to sing a Jazz melody and take on the social issue of bullying through a lyrical adaptation of the song, “Hit the Road, Jack!” Then, students hit the stage to showcase their scat improvisational skills in a live performance for their peers. A tuned piano or keyboard is requested.
