Join Alden Phelps for an unforgettable residency that brings the incredible world of honeybees to life through music, rhythm, and art! In Honeybees!: Learning About Nature’s Sweetest Insects, students will sing, clap, and create as they discover fascinating facts about these amazing pollinators. Inspired by the award-winning book Honeybee: The Busy Life of Apis Mellifera by Candace Fleming and Eric Rohmann, this interactive experience will spark curiosity and foster a deep appreciation for nature’s busiest insects. Perfect for hands-on learning and full of fun surprises, this residency is sure to leave students buzzing with excitement!

About Theme-based Residencies

Theme-based residencies are a series of five student-centered workshops focused on creating engaging, interactive arts-focused or arts-integrated experiences for children in PreK and Kindergarten. Each residency starts with either a “kickoff” assembly or an interactive workshop and culminates in an event where children share what they learned. Pricing starts at $2,300 + mileage. We may be able to assist you in securing grant and funding opportunities.

Program Length 5 sessions

Technical Requirements

10’ x 10’ clear area
Access to performance area 1 hour before set up
The artist will provide a sound system for audiences of over 50 people or for large rooms/gyms
The artist will need a power outlet to plug in the sound system
The room needs to have blinds or the ability to block the light at least partially
The artist will be in communication about additional technical requirements specific to the program
