Registration for Blacktastic will close on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 5:00 pm EST.

Blacktastic will be streamed on a private page on the Arts for Learning website, artsforlearningmd.org.

You may want to check with your IT staff to ensure our website is “allowlisted” before the event.

You will receive an additional confirmation email that includes a special registration form that your teachers MUST complete so each classroom can participate in the event on a unique device. A teacher from each classroom MUST fill out this form in order to join Blacktastic on their own device. When you receive the email, please forward it to all teachers in your school.

Very Important: All additional teachers must complete this form by February 24th to ensure everyone has access to the program. Unfortunately, we cannot accept newly added registrants after that time.

Registrants will receive automatic emails with their link for the event a week before the event, 48 hours before, 24 hours before, and the morning of the event. We strongly advise that you check the link to make sure you can access it on your computer and school’s network.

Registrants will receive a detailed schedule with segment start times approximately two weeks before the event. Please note that each program segment runs between 45-60 minutes. Each segment includes the following components:

  • Intro Animation
  • Full Segment of Blacktastic Historical Figure
  • Blacktastic Trivia

The digital Blacktastic Activity Book will be emailed to you one week before the event. The book will be designed in full color, so printed copies for students during the event might be helpful if that's an option for you.

The book can be used in two ways: Follow-up activities after your students have watched the program or before the program. All activities are grade-banded and follow Maryland State Education Standards.

The Activity Book will be referenced at the end of each segment to extend their learning, but students do not have to have the activity book in hand to have an awesome experience!

Go ahead and complete the financial assistance application by February 20th. If your school is awarded, we will update your payment information in our system, and you will not need to re-register.

The sessions will be interactive in that students will be invited to dance, sing, answer trivia, work on the activity book, etc., within their classrooms. There will also be a live chat and opportunities for students to submit their work online. We encourage educators and caregivers to post comments and questions in the live chat on behalf of your students! Due to the "webinar" stream setup, there won't be an opportunity to interface with the performers directly.

Each segment stands on its own, so teachers don't need to tune in for every session if they aren't able to.

Yes, the live stream will be closed-captioned for all viewers. When watching the replay, you will have the option to toggle captions on and off.

If you have additional questions, please email [email protected].
