Ali Oliver-Krueger is a Wolf Trap-trained Early Childhood Teaching Artist with Arts for Learning Maryland. Ali is a director, actor, singer, playwright/composer, and puppet maker. As a teaching artist and arts education professional, Ali has worked with schools, opera companies, and arts organizations across the country, and is a residency artist with The Wolf Trap Institute for Early Learning Through the Arts and the John F. Kennedy Center Education Department’s DC Partnership Schools Initiative Community Program. Ali is the Executive and Artistic Director of InterAct Story Theatre, an educational theatre company based in Wheaton, Maryland. Ali presents at conferences on arts education and arts integration and conducts professional development workshops and residencies on linking drama and music with content curricula.

Artist Statement

I believe passionately that the arts are for everyone, everyone learns through the arts… and learning can be fun! My goals in my teaching artistry are to inspire creativity and unlock the incredible imaginations of children, and to empower teachers and caregivers to embrace the arts as a rich, vibrant pathway to teaching and learning so everyone can learn and grow. As a multidisciplinary artist, I love to draw from a wide variety of arts disciplines when I teach, and I love helping teachers and caregivers develop a “toolbox” bursting to the brim with all kinds of artistic tools and skills to bring out the artists in their children and themselves. I want to inspire children and adults alike to explore, take creative risks, and have fun learning in a supportive, safe environment–after all, the only wrong way to bring arts into the classroom and the home is not to do it at all!
