Bead Making of Indigenous People
Artist
Maria Weaver
Program Type
Residency
Description
Students will learn how to make beads (jewelry) from air-dry clay and review 2D and 3D shapes. How jewelry and adornment communicate our Identity, Virtues, and/or Cultural norms will be discussed. We will be manipulating air-dry clay to imitate tribal beads from indigenous people: African OR Native American Cultures. Students will learn art elements (lines, colors, shapes, patterns) and practice the magic of mixing colors!
