Marsha Searle has been dancing for as long as she can remember. Her front lawn performances inspired her parents to enroll her in ballet, and she grew up studying ballet and Scottish Highland dancing. She attended Brigham Young University with the intention of studying biology but upon seeing the International Folk Dance Ensemble perform she fell in love and ended up earning two BA degrees in World Dance and History. Marsha performed with the International Folk Dance ensemble for 4 years, touring around the world and performing in the opening ceremonies of the 2002 Olympics. Shortly after moving to Maryland in 2004 she became a principal dancer with Footworks Percussive Dance Ensemble and has been dancing professionally with them ever since. Over the years she has been Footworks’ School Show Director, Rehearsal Captain, and Company Manager. Marsha Searle is currently the director of Footworks Percussive Dance Ensemble where she feeds her love for world dance and diverse cultures and peoples. She shares this love through teaching and performance. Marsha is a Wolf Trap Early Learning Teaching Artist and has over 15 plus years of experience teaching audiences of all ages. Marsha also dances with IONA, a pan-Celtic band, and loves to sing, play the ukulele, and be in nature.
