Training Overview
What You'll Experience
Trainings move from building community and emotional support in the classroom to using arts integration as a teaching practice/creative process, to co-planning and co-teaching math and literacy arts-integrated lessons with a partner.
Integrated throughout the training are a series of Race Equity Trainings that allow artists to examine existing biases and better understand institutional and structural racism and their impact on policies and practices in public education. Artists are invited to consider the small acts of resistance they can practice as they reimagine teaching in abolitionist ways that elevate students' voices, critical thinking, artistic expression, and joyful learning.
The series is designed so that participants can engage in the content before participating in the classes, allowing artists to bring reflections, connections, and questions to each session.
What You'll Earn
+ $500 for the 60+ hours of Summer Artists Corps training; and
+ $11,500 for the one week of professional development and six-week Summer Academy.
